USC sports panel results

Every year, we pick 10 USC members to take a critical look at our organization. We brainstorm together for 3 evenings with the goal of making USC an even better place to work out. So, what exactly has improved over the last few years? Check out what we’ve done with the feedback from the sports panels:

General

  • Creating a place where members can share their ideas for USC.
    • We will be testing with a suggestion box at the Universum front desk in 2026. If it’s successful, we will expand it to other locations.
  • Organizing the sports panel later in the evening and serving pizza instead of soup for dinner.
    • The first sports panel at 17:30, featuring pizza from Oerknal, is now a reality!

Sports

  • Making USC School of Boxing a more vibrant location.
    • In October, we launched a big (kick)boxing campaign at USC, called Boxtober. USC members could do challenges on their Boxing Bucket List and break the record on a punching ball machine. Starting this season, the popular group class Rumble is also on the School of Boxing schedule, and we had a cool video and photoshoot (the results are coming soon…).
  • Shorter courses, because 9 classes is too much of a commitment.
    • This season, we’ve added more short courses (4 classes) to the program. For example, for (kick)boxing, strength sports, and yoga.
  • Organizing trial days for various sports, so you can try something outside your membership.
    • For dance and martial arts (where we offer many different styles), we now organize an annual event to help you discover your favorite style. These events are the USC Dance Taster (in October) and the Martial Arts Mixer (in December).
  • Adding new sports that are currently popular in the Netherlands, such as HYROX, pickleball, and reformer pilates.
    • We always keep an eye on trends, and this season we’ve offered our own version of HYROX and reformer pilates: ROX45 and Pilates Sculpt.

Marketing & communication

  • Showing an overview of the weekly group class schedule more frequently.
    • We created a slide with the group class schedule at ASC and in the Universum fitness. We also post an Instagram Story every Monday with a selection of highlighted classes for the coming week.
  • Being able to bring a +1 to USC.
    • Last year, we launched 2 small campaigns among specific USC groups to offer a one-time +1. In the new year, we will explore ways to make this more permanent.
  • Increasing awareness of the fitness studio to spread out the crowds in the Universum fitness.
    • We created a permanent slide on the screens in the Universum fitness to indicate that you can also use the fitness studio downstairs.
  • Communicating more clearly that we have a confidential advisor at USC.
    • This year, we’ve been working on developing a code of conduct at USC (in which the confidential advisor plays a prominent role). In 2026, we will share the code of conduct with all USC members, staff, and other stakeholders. We will also launch a campaign related to this.
  • Clarifying the differences between the various group classes, martial arts, and yoga styles.
    • Last year, we created new videos for all martial arts and some group classes. We shared these videos on Instagram and added them to the My USC app. This way, you can use a video to determine if a class/training is right for you before making a reservation.

And this is what we’ll start working on soon:

  • A new website! We’re already working hard on this behind the scenes.
  • Creating an option to ‘Add a friend’ in the My USC app to work out together.
  • Making it easier to upgrade your membership.
