Come and try bouldering at the USC Boulder Gym! Discover all the colourful routes, up to 4.5 metres high, at USC Universum in Amsterdam-East. With new boulders every week for beginners and advanced climbers.
Bouldering at USC
- Universum has a large indoor bouldering gym, an indoor bouldering wall and an outdoor bouldering block.
- Anyone is welcome to use the outdoor boulder block.
- With a bouldering membership, you can book a session to boulder indoors at USC.
- No experience, but keen to try bouldering? Join an introductory session: every Thursday on the timetable!
- Want to make bouldering your sport or improve your skills? Join a course!
Fees change per 1 November 2026
As of 1 November 2026, many of the fees of our ongoing Year and Flex memberships will change. Check which monthly fee you will pay from November.

Bouldering courses
Beginners’ course
- 4 lessons of 2 hours each.
- The ideal course if you have no previous experience of bouldering.
Intermediate course
- 4 sessions of 2 hours each.
- For grades 5a to 6a.
- Improve your efficiency and technique.
- Entry requirement: completion of the beginners’ course or equivalent experience.
Advanced course
- 4 lessons of 2 hours each.
- For levels 5c to 6c.
- Improve your mental and physical approach to bouldering.
- Entry requirement: You must be able to boulder 5c/blue or harder.
Extra info
Initial payment: pro rata
When you purchase a Boulderen YEAR or Boulderen FLEX membership, you pay a pro rata amount.
Direct debit
Thereafter, an instalment is debited by direct debit in the first week of each month.
Cancelling is simple
Send an email to usc@uscsport.nl, or cancel your membership yourself via the ‘My USC’ website. Your membership will then end on the last day of that month.*
*If you cancel a FLEX membership in the same month in which you took it out, the FLEX membership will end on the last day of the following month. This means that at least one monthly payment will always be debited via direct debit before a FLEX membership expires.
Booking
- You can book – subject to availability – right up until the start of the class or session.
- You can book up to 6 days in advance.
- You may have a maximum of 3 active bookings in your name for the next 6 days.
Check-in
- Download the My USC Amsterdam app (Android or iOS) to gain access to USC.
- On arrival, simply scan the QR code on the access gate at the USC venue using the app.
- Still having trouble? Please speak to the trainer or instructor, who will check you in.
- Please note! You are responsible for checking in yourself. If you haven’t checked in, we’ll record it as a no-show.
- Use at your own risk.
- Boulder sensibly and safely. Keep a sufficient distance (1.50m) from one another. Take care with the wrapped poles. Spot one another to catch an uncontrolled fall.
- Bouldering is only permitted after purchasing a valid climbing/bouldering membership.
- Bouldering is only permitted with clean climbing shoes.
- Bouldering with a bare upper body is not permitted.
- Cheer in moderation and do not place pouches on the mat.
- Bouldering barefoot is not permitted.
- Do not wear jewellery whilst bouldering.
- Do not climb on top of the walls.
- Do not walk across the mat; use the path instead.
- Do not leave any belongings on the mat.
- Descend using the descent holds and easy routes wherever possible.
- Change in the changing rooms.
- Check the general house rules for all USC regulations.
- The boulder is open to the public.
- Use of the bouldering wall is at your own risk.
- Bouldering carries a risk of injury. Boulder sensibly and safely.
- It is advisable to spot each other (to catch each other). Consider using a crash pad.
- Take care with loose holds. We do our best to secure all holds. Is a hold loose? Ask for a spanner at the sports centre.
- The gravel pit softens the landing, but avoid uncontrolled falls.
- Make sure the landing area is clear.
- Keep a safe distance (>1.50m) from other climbers.
- The use of climbing shoes is recommended.
- Warm up before each session, start gently and build up gradually to your maximum effort.
- Take sufficient rest breaks whilst bouldering.
- Cool down afterwards.
- It is forbidden to climb on top of the boulder.
- The boulder is not a playground for children
