Confidential adviser
Just as in the rest of our society, you may experience undesirable behaviour at USC. When that happens, you should be able to turn to a confidential adviser, who will support you with care and in complete confidence. Together with you, the confidential adviser will answer the question: where do we go from here?
Undesirable behaviour
At USC, we take undesirable behaviour seriously. By undesirable behaviour, we mean behaviour that is distressing to the person concerned, because it threatens or harms their physical or mental integrity. Undesirable behaviour is deemed to have occurred as soon as one of the parties involved could reasonably perceive it as such. We consider the following behaviour to be undesirable:
- Aggression and violence: The use of, or threats of, physical or verbal violence towards another person.
- Discrimination: Treating people unequally on the basis of, amongst other things, ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious beliefs, disability, age, political views or appearance.
- (Sexual) harassment: Displaying unwanted sexual (or sexually suggestive) behaviour or other intimidating acts that may be perceived as threatening.
- Bullying: Displaying hurtful or hostile behaviour that may cause harm to someone or exclude them.
- Abuse of power: Misusing a position of authority to disadvantage, put pressure on or favour others.
- Breach of privacy and data protection: Collecting, using or disseminating another person’s personal or confidential data without their consent.
Who is the confidential adviser for?

- All USC members.
- Other/occasional participants in the USC sports programme (regular programme, as well as events).
- Tenants of USC facilities.
- Visitors/users of USC facilities, including our cafes.
- Members of affiliated student sports associations.
- For USC employees, USC has a different confidential adviser.
