Week 24

Glow-Poi at USC

Course of 9 classes of 1 hour.
For beginners and if you want to learn more about (glow) Poi.
You’ll learn to improve your body coordination, flexibility, and general focus.
You’ll learn both basic patterns and more complicated patterns.

USC instructor

This course is taught by Thomas Bouteiller. Thomas has been practicing glow and fire Pois for 15 years. He moved to the Netherlands around 12 years ago and enjoys teaching Pois to the curious and intrigued.
The best feeling for him is when someone’s interest becomes a new hoddy.

Wear and gear

To perform Glow-Poi, you don’t need to bring anything to class. However, indoor gym shoes are mandetory in our gym hall. It is also recommended that you wear comfortable clothing that does not obstruct the mobility of your arms and shoulders.

Did you know...?

Did you know that Poi originates from the Māori people of New Zealand, where it is still practiced to this day.
Traditional Maori Poi is generally performed in group choreography at cultural events, with vocal and musical accompaniment. In contrast, modern Poi is generally performed by individuals at festivals or at home for your own entertainment.
